Wisdom, Wrongs and Whoopie With The Hulls!!!

Hello Lovies!!
Today is a VERY special day.
Today is our FIRST EVER interview with a married couple!
And not just any married couple but my adorable parents!
They are probably my favorite people to be around, they have the BEST sense of humor and such warm hearts!
I think Dorothy said it best....
there really is "No place like home!"
They were my home for the first 18 years of my life and although I don't physically live with them anymore my heart is still very much at home with them.

These two lovebirds will be married 40 longgggggg and lovelyyyyy years on April 29th!
Yes, the Royal couple did select their wedding date because it was my parents {its a good date!}
And didn't they look damn fine!!!
The darling Larry and Shirlee Hull
My dad's long hippie hair and don't you love my moms dress?!!?
She made it!
Here they were nearly 40 years ago...
I was just a twinkle in their eye ;)

1. How long have you been married?

Shirlee: Duh

Larry: 40 years we have been married.

2. What made you realize you could spend the rest of your life with one another?

Shirlee: I trusted Larry to always be there and always have a sense of humor

Larry: I had a feeling deep within that Shirlee was the one very early on.

3. What was the best piece of advise you received during your first year married?

Shirlee: To not put your own expectations on your mate to achieve - do them yourself.

Larry: remember I said we have been married 40 years, I don't remember any advice given in the    1st year. Besides I learn by experience, I wasn't really good at taking advice in my younger years.

4. What is your favorite thing about being married and why?

Shirlee: Companionship and waking up to my best friend, security, and feel stronger as a unit

Larry: My favorite thing about being married is having someone to share your dreams and experiences with. It is more enjoyable than doing it alone.

5. What is your fondest memory throughout your 40 years of marriage?

Shirlee: Having Kids and now Grandkids and a loving extended family - family time and vacations

Larry: Probably my fondest memories of the 40 years would be the birth of Wes and Kayla. Life changing miracles for sure.

6. What was the biggest challenge you overcame throughout your married years?

Shirlee: Raising kids, cuz we had a very different background and we were not always on the same page.

Larry: Our biggest challenge....Probably compromising on differences of rather important life changing events that were in our future, such as major moves , or career changes. we were not always on the same page, but we compromised and things always worked out fine. We have been blessed that way.

7. At the end of a rough relationship day, what is the most important thing to remind yourself?

Shirlee:That the family unit is most important to keep together, and we are just a piece of the big puzzle

Larry: After a rough relationship day I remind myself to be Patient ,compassionate, tolerant, forgiving, and most importantly , grateful that I have someone to share with. The goodtimes as well as the rough times.

8. What advise would you give to others who are trying to make their love last forever?

Shirlee: To have your own life too, so you have things to add and share and communicate in the relationship

Larry: The most important thing a couple can do to make their relationship last is honesty and communication. I am still working on communication skills.

9. Where is the most risque place you made whoopie?

Shirlee: Probably our Houseboat, cuz we had lots of visitors and no real bedroom!

Larry: The most risque place we made "Whoopie" . That is difficult , when you have 40 years to review. You probably would'nt want to know. In todays political climate we would be considered " Pervs" if I was to tell you the MOST RISQUE place . So I will leave that to your imagination.

Clearly somebodies being a little shy about question 8
